There was a surprise winner in the Women's 100 metre Breaststroke. German swimmer Anna Elendt took 1st place swimming 1:05.19, from lane 1, just 0.08 seconds quicker that American Kate Douglass in 1:05.27, with Qianting Tang of China taking the bronze medal in 1:05.64. This was Yet another very close finals swim to determine the medal placings, which has become a common sight at these World Championships.
