There was a surprise tie for the bronze medal in the women’s 200 metre breaststroke with both Kaylene Corbett of South Africa and Alina Zmushka swimming the exact same time of 2:23.52 to win the bronze. Evgeniia Chikunova won the silver medal in a time of 2:19.96. But the class of the field was American Kate Douglass who was almost a second and a half clear of the field swimming a championship record of 2:18.50. She continues to prove she is the woman to beat in both the breaststroke events.
